How to choose a name

Name the answer, not just the brand.

Pair your category with .best: crm.best, ebike.best, movers-lyon.best. The name should state what the site is the best answer to.

    From question to name

Write the name the way your buyer asks.

AI assistants rewrite a buyer's question into their own web searches before they answer, and the word they add most is “best”: Peec AI found it in 24.3% of ChatGPT's searches for advice questions. A name built from the same words matches the search, the title and every mention.

    Before you register

Five checks for a .Best name.

    1. 1

It states what the site is the best answer to.

Pair your category with .best. A buyer, a journalist and an AI assistant should all be able to tell what the site compares from the address alone.

    2. 2

It survives being remembered and retyped.

Many readers check a recommended name in a search engine before they visit. A short name that says what it is comes back without another answer, another search or another paid click.

    3. 3

It is spelled one way, everywhere.

“ebike.best”, “eBike Best” and “Ebike.Best Ltd” look like three entities to a machine. Pick one form and use it on the site, in every profile and in every directory.

    4. 4

It is one entity, not two.

If you run a .Best site alongside an existing brand, decide which is the entity and which is a property of it, and say so on your about page and in your structured data. If you also hold the .com, redirect it.

    5. 5

You can keep the promise it makes.

A site called ebike.best is expected to compare e-bikes. The name is a commitment: the site has to rank, compare and update, or the name works against it.

    6. What the registry allows

      • Letters a–z, digits 0–9 and hyphens; capitals make no difference.
      • Up to 63 characters before .best.
      • No hyphen at the start or the end, and no two hyphens in a row (except in internationalized names, which start with xn--).

The full rules are in the registry policies.

    Questions

What a name does, and does not do.

What makes a good .Best domain name?
A name that states what the site is the best answer to: a category (crm.best), a category and a place (movers-lyon.best) or a use case (crm-for-agencies.best). It should be short enough to remember and retype, and spelled one way everywhere.
Should I use my brand name or my category with .best?
For AI answers, the category. AI assistants turn buying questions into “best” searches about a category, and every mention of a category name such as crm.best also says “CRM” and “best”. A brand name with .best suits campaigns and launches, but the category is absent from it.
Can a .Best domain name contain hyphens?
Yes. Letters, digits and hyphens are allowed, up to 63 characters before .best, with no hyphen at the start or the end and no two hyphens in a row (except in internationalized names).
Will a .Best name make ChatGPT recommend my site?
Not on its own. There is no public evidence that ChatGPT gives any weight to a top-level domain as such, and Google says keywords in a TLD give no ranking advantage. A .Best name matches the “best” searches ChatGPT runs and carries the category into every mention, but only on top of content that deserves to be cited.
